Vouvray Haut Lieu, Sec, Domaine Huet , 2011 13.0%

Mineral, appley kind of nose. Detailed, subtly complex, exciting and young.  A midweight palate, with splendid over-delivery of intensity and precision, whilst staying within the parameters of Chablis-esque 'young French unoaked white wine'.

 £40.20

 Bourgogne Aligote Potinet-Ampeau, 2009 12.2%

Intensely understated, mineral & lemon nose, without food shockingly intense and dry, it is midweight, mineral, clean bright and light to the end. This aligote hails from an old vineyard 'complanted', i.e. grown with about 25% chardonnay in the vines, making this not just an aligote after all, but subversively cool, without resorting to new-barrel fermenting.

£24.70

Chablis, Domaine Long-Depaquit, Albert Bichot, Beaune Bourgogne, 2010, 12.5%

A new regime since 2001 has reduced yields and adopted a more biologique viniculture approach.   Grapes are hand harvested and the wine now tastes like a true Chablis, made in Chablis but bottles in Beaune.

 £30.20

Italy
